When we did the official “go\/ no-go” on the trip and decided it was a “go” I started reading a lot of blogs and looking into clothes. It seemed like the one tangible thing I could control while waiting for the real stuff to start. Initially I thought “oh, I’ll just take a bunch of old clothes I don’t really care about”. After doing a lot of research, I realized that probably wasn’t a good idea. Since we’re only taking carry-ons we’re very limited on what and how much we can bring. We’re also doing a bunch of things where we won’t be able to wash clothes often. The plan is to bring versatile items that I can wear multiple times, whether hiking, in an urban setting or to a nice dinner (once in a while). I tried on and returned a bunch of stuff! It was kind of a problem. I think I have finally settled on what clothes will provide versatility, give me enough options, are quick drying, pack well, moisture wicking and some type of odor repellent. So here it is! And it might be too many.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bags:
46L pack – for backpacking and to carry-on planes
tote\/ shoulder bag – this will have the computer when on planes, used for town shopping and everything else
fanny pack – to use for day hikes and city walking

Clothes:
2 pants – can hike in, layer over leggings, wear in town (this might be one too many)
1 crop leggings
3 shorts
3 t-shirts – 1 for more urban settings, 2 for hiking\/ urban
4 tank tops – 1 for sleeping\/urban, 1 running\/ hiking, 2 hiking\/ urban (this might be 1 too many, but we’ll see)
1 long sleeve – wool for layering
1 button up
1 dress – beach cover up\/ dinner\/ urban
1 fleece button up jacket (1 puffy jacket for Patagonia and sending it back)
1 rain coat
1 bathing suit
5 socks – 2 hiking\/ running, 1 tall\/ hiking, 2 urban
3 bras – 1 comfy, 2 sports
9 undies – yes it’s a lot, but they’re small so that’s ok
1 shawl – this will come in handy when covering up for different cultures, to add a little accessory to outfits
headband, beanie, buff, gloves

Shoes:
1 hiking\/ running
1 casual that fold down
1 sandals – can be worn in the water\/ shower or nice enough for dinner

Toiletries:
bar shampoo\/ conditioner
bar face\/ body soap
contact lenses (6 months), solution (it will be interesting to see how easy\/ hard this is to find), glasses
tooth brush, paste, deodorant
face lotion, sun screen, tinted face lotion, mascara (sometimes I might want to feel girly and my face tends to break out so I want options when I’m not feeling so confident infant of the people)
diva cup

Gear\/ Misc:
mountaineering harness
30 degree sleeping bag (unzips at the feet to become a quilt)
sleeping bag liner
sleeping pad
stuff able pillow
headlamp
diary\/ colored pencils
toilet paper (we’re going hiking but there will also be bathrooms that either don’t have toilet paper or that I have to pay for)
travel towel – to use at the beach, backpacking and hostels
kindle, iPhone, chargers, computer<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What did Tom pack? A lot less than I did! Although he’s carrying more of the gear because I somehow have more clothes than he does. Not sure how or why that happened.

Bag:
48L pack
small backpack that stuffs into it’s own pocket – to use for day hikes

Clothes:
2 pants
3 shorts
4 t-shirts
1 long sleeve
1 rain coat
1 fleece
1 puffy (will be sent home after Patagonia)
5 socks
5 boxers

sandals
