It was a 2 bedroom with a washer\/ dryer, 2 bathrooms and fully stocked kitchen. We were basically living in luxury at this point and were not complaining. NM had stay-at-home orders in place and we were still finishing out our quarantine when we arrived, but we were perfectly located to take advantage of the trails in the foothills and the wide neighborhood roads for some bike rides, runs and social distance park visits with my sister. Towards the end we were feeling a little restless and were really missing our own home since we were so stagnant for a long period of time. But thankfully my sister kept us busy with all of their house projects prepping for the baby! We also started working again for our previous firms &#8211; Tom was already on a sabbatical so it was easy for him to pick right back up. Thankfully my old company was in need of extra help but I wanted to stay flexible to have the ability to adventure more and not have the normal 8-5 hours (that was kind of the point of quitting our jobs to travel this year) so thankfully I was able to do contract work for them! It&#8217;s a total blessing in disguise. After such an abrupt end to all of our plans, nothing beats family. After feeling a little down about everything, Tom planned an evening date-night hike to a spot he saw when mountain biking. To celebrate our engagement, my mom gave us some wine and a little cake so we grabbed my nephews metal cups, and hit the trail! Like the famous La Luz trail up to the summit of the Sandias. I&#8217;d never done it before and when we left I had clocked a few miles on that trail. Leave it to Tom to find all the rad hikes, because we did! He had his sights set on the Knife Edge of the W that starts in the foothills and tops out on the Sandias, and then you have to hike all the way back down on La Luz. My first attempt, was unsuccessful. The W seemed way over my head with a ton of exposure and too much commitment. Although during my second attempt, it wasn&#8217;t nearly as bad as I thought! What an accomplishment that was. He&#8217;d do an adventure with Mike first (like the Knife Edge after our first attempt) and the Thumb &#8211; a 4 pitch trad climb with scrambling in the Sandias too and then he would take me and knew how to get me through to tougher parts. And then even more 20 min north into Placitas where we ended on the Miles of Smiles trail (rightfully named) or into the east mountains to cool off and get bigger ascents and descents. It was perfect. They just moved into this house in January and it has the perfect setup for Tony. This was a great opportunity for us to give the van a good cleaning and some updates like cleaning out the fan vents, reinforcing the upper cabinets there were falling off and customizing the drawer organizer for where we put everything. There were birthdays, mother&#8217;s day, the birth of a new family member and finally celebrating our engagement with other people! I also took this opportunity to work with a local jeweler and design my own engagement right. My sister&#8217;s ring is from Ohh Ahh Jewelry and they&#8217;re a small local company that does beautiful work. Thankfully they were just starting to open back up for business right before we left and I was able to finalize everything and get the most beautiful ring in the world! I will probably never have this much time back in ABQ (I love it there, but I don&#8217;t intend to move back) so despite the blow to our world travels, this is a time I will always cherish especially amidst so much uncertainty. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We found the perfect AirBnb that was a 5 minute walk from my sister&#8217;s house and well within our budget!
