<\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\nOne of our weekends in Missoula, we went to Discovery Bike Park about 1.5 hrs outside of town and had so much fun! It’s a super small, local ski area and in the summer they have 1 lift that takes you up and a number of great blues and some blacks, double blacks to get you down. We were partial to the S-Line which started as a blue and split off to some blacks that offered jumps. The trails wound through each other so it was really fun taking the blue while I got to see Tom (literally) jump over me on his bike! First time I’ve seen him do crazy stuff on his bike in person and it was really awesome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After some biking we went up to Georgetown Lake and floated on the SUP for a bit. Followed by heading into Phillipsburg to grab Montana’s Best BBQ and some beers. We also discovered that Philipsburg Brewing was having some live local music out on the lawn. I was so excited! Tom really wanted to fish, I didn’t, so we split up ways and I found a nice solo grassy spot up the hill and couldn’t stop smiling as I listened to some great music and watched the small town locals dance. It was like COVID didn’t even happen here (which it probably didn’t) but I was still keeping my distance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\nAfter 2 weeks in Missoula, we went for a backpacking trip outside of West Glacier to Elk Lake. Originally we were going to do a big loop to Moose Lake and along the ridge line around Mt. Bradley but because the trails weren’t clear and Moose Lake was campsites were swamped over. So we ended up staying at Elk Lake for 2 nights and did a big day trip up to some ridges. It was such a great, quiet weekend away from all the things and with only a few neighbors at the lake the first night. Of course Tom worked on his fishing skills and I worked on my “don’t be afraid of bears” skills… still a work in progress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

isn’t he the cutest?!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n We wanted to spend some time in Whitefish, just outside Glacier but it was so expensive to find a place to stay. We realized all we really needed was wifi (since we’re both working during the day) and a hot shower and laundry. So we found ourselves at the KOA just outside Whitefish. It was actually a pretty sweet spot. The internet was a little spotty when camp was full at night or in the morning, but with Tom’s secret antenna we were able to get some strong wifi! They also offered a decent free breakfast and a bunch of things for kids like mini horses! and mini golf that we very much enjoyed. It was a great little base to live out of the van and have just enough amenities while we played on Whitefish Lake and prepared gear for my first bikepacking trip! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
